Terms of use
These terms of use ("terms") explain the rules for using Zoro, including the Zoro apps for iPhone and Android and the website at zoro.ae (together, the "service"). The service is operated by Zoro ("we", "us", "our").
Please read these terms carefully. They work together with our Privacy policy, Posting rules and Safety tips, which form part of these terms.
1. Accepting these terms
You can browse ads on Zoro without an account. By using the service you agree to follow these terms.
When you create an account, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or use the service.
2. Who can use Zoro
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You must give accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
- You may not create an account if we have previously suspended or removed your account, unless we agree.
- You may not use the service on behalf of someone else without their permission.
3. Your account
An account is needed to post ads, chat with other members, and save ads and searches. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password private and do not share your account with anyone. If you think someone else has accessed your account, change your password and contact us at hello@zoro.ae straight away.
Zoro staff will never ask you for your password or for verification codes we send you.
4. Zoro is a platform
Zoro is an online platform that lets people publish ads and contact each other. We are not a party to any sale, rental, job, service or other arrangement between users, and we do not act as an agent, broker, employer, seller or buyer.
We do not own, inspect or guarantee the items, properties, vehicles, jobs or services listed, and we do not guarantee that any user will complete a transaction. Any agreement you make with another user is between you and that user. You are responsible for checking the item, the other person and any documents before you pay or hand anything over. Our Safety tips explain how to protect yourself.
5. Posting ads
When you post an ad, you must follow our Posting rules. In particular:
- Your ad must describe a real item, property, vehicle, job or service that you are entitled to offer.
- Photos, title, description, price, category details and location must be accurate and not misleading.
- Property ads must include a valid permit number where local rules require one.
- You must comply with all laws that apply to what you are offering.
Ads are reviewed by our moderators before they go live. Approval of an ad does not mean we have checked or endorse its content, and we may still remove it later. Ads expire after a period of time. You can renew, mark as sold or delete your own ads at any time.
6. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Zoro. You must not post, send or share, in ads, photos, profile details or chat messages, anything that is:
- illegal, or offers items or services that are banned or restricted under UAE law
- weapons, ammunition, explosives or their parts
- drugs, controlled substances or drug-related items
- counterfeit, replica or stolen goods
- sexual, pornographic or otherwise adult content, or content that offends public morals
- hateful, or discriminates against or attacks people based on religion, nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, disability or any similar characteristic
- harassing, threatening, bullying, defamatory or abusive towards anyone
- a scam, fraud, phishing attempt or pyramid scheme, or a request for advance payment for something that does not exist
- misleading, including fake ads, false prices, bait ads, wrong categories or photos that are not of the item offered
- the personal data of other people, such as their ID documents, phone numbers, addresses or photos, without their permission
- infringing on someone else's intellectual property or other rights
- insulting to religions or to the UAE, its symbols or its leadership
- spam, chain messages, or unsolicited advertising sent through chat
You also must not:
- impersonate another person or business, or claim to be verified when you are not
- harass, threaten or repeatedly contact a user who has blocked you or asked you to stop
- try to get around moderation, suspensions or blocks, for example by creating new accounts
- collect other users' data, or use bots, scrapers or automated tools on the service
- interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to the service
7. Reporting content and blocking users
If you see an ad or a user that breaks these terms, please report it. You can use the Report option on any ad. You can also contact us at hello@zoro.ae to report a user, a message or anything else that concerns you.
You can block any user. Once you block someone, they can no longer message you and their ads are hidden from you.
We take every report seriously. Our moderators aim to review reports within 24 hours. Where content breaks these terms, we will remove it, and we may suspend or remove the account of the user who posted it. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, please contact the police first.
8. Our rights to moderate
To keep Zoro safe, we may, at our discretion and without prior notice where the situation calls for it:
- reject any ad before it goes live, or remove any ad or content afterwards
- limit features, suspend or permanently remove any account that breaks these terms, harms other users, or puts the service at risk
- keep records of reports and moderation decisions, as described in our Privacy policy
- share information with the authorities where the law requires it
If your ad is rejected or your account is suspended and you believe this was a mistake, you can contact us at hello@zoro.ae and we will look at it again.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post on Zoro, such as your ad text and photos.
By posting content, you give Zoro a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, display and distribute it, for as long as it is on the service, for the purpose of operating, improving and promoting the service. For example, we may display your ad in search results, on category pages and in shared links. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law, as explained in our Privacy policy.
You confirm that you own the content you post or have the right to post it, and that it does not break these terms or anyone else's rights.
10. Chat and phone numbers
Chat lets members exchange text, photos and price offers. A price offer in chat is not a binding contract on Zoro's behalf; any agreement is between the two users.
If you choose to show your phone number on your ads, other users can reveal it by tapping on it. We keep a record of these reveals to help prevent abuse. Only share your number if you are comfortable being contacted.
11. Identity verification
You can choose to verify your identity by uploading a photo of your Emirates ID or passport. If our staff confirm your identity, your profile shows a Verified badge. The badge only means we have checked an identity document. It does not mean we guarantee or endorse the user, their ads or their behaviour. Uploading someone else's document, or a fake or altered document, is strictly prohibited.
12. Paid features
All listings on Zoro are currently free. In the future we may offer optional paid features, such as packages to promote ads. If we do, we will show the price and the terms that apply before you buy, and you will only be charged if you choose to purchase.
13. Zoro's intellectual property
The Zoro name, logo, apps, website and their design and software belong to Zoro or its licensors. You may use the service for its intended purpose only. You may not copy, modify, sell or reuse any part of it without our written permission.
14. Availability of the service
We work hard to keep Zoro running smoothly, but we cannot promise that the service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause or stop any part of the service, for example for maintenance or to add new features.
15. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by UAE law, we do not give any promise or warranty about:
- the accuracy, quality, safety, legality or availability of any ad, item or service listed by users
- the identity, honesty or ability to pay of any user, even if they have a Verified badge
- the outcome of any transaction or contact between users
Information on Zoro is provided by users. Always use your own judgement and follow our Safety tips.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UAE law:
- Zoro is not liable for any loss or damage arising from transactions, meetings or communication between users, or from content posted by users.
- Zoro is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business, data or opportunity.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UAE law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.
17. Your responsibility
If you break these terms or the law, and this causes a claim, loss or expense to Zoro, you agree to compensate Zoro for it, to the extent permitted by law.
18. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time, in the app (Account, then Edit profile, then Delete account) or on the website (Settings, then Delete account). Our Delete your account page explains what is deleted.
We may suspend or close your account as described in section 8. The sections of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as sections 4, 9 and 13 to 17, continue to apply after your account ends.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will post the updated version on this page. If the changes are significant, we will let you know through the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the service after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will be handled by the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue together.
If the English and Arabic versions of these terms differ, the Arabic version prevails to the extent required by UAE law.
21. Contact us
If you have any question about these terms, contact us at hello@zoro.ae.
