Safety tips
Most people on Zoro are genuine buyers and sellers. A few simple habits will help you avoid the rare bad experience.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a busy public place during the day, such as a mall or a café. Avoid isolated places.
- Bring a friend or family member if you can, and tell someone where you are going.
- For valuable items, consider meeting near a bank or a police station.
Paying and getting paid
- Inspect the item carefully before you pay, and make sure it works.
- Never pay a deposit or transfer money in advance to someone you have not met, whether for a car, a rental, a pet or anything else.
- Be careful with offers that seem too good to be true. They usually are.
- Sellers: confirm that the money has actually arrived in your account before you hand over the item. Fake payment screenshots and fake bank messages are common.
- Be wary of anyone who offers to send a courier or a "shipping agent" to collect payment or the item, or who asks you to pay a fee to receive money.
Cars and property
- For cars, check the registration card (Mulkiya) and that the seller's name matches their ID. Ask for the service history and consider an independent inspection.
- For property, check the title deed or tenancy documents, the property permit number, and that you are dealing with the owner or a licensed agent. Never pay before seeing the property and checking the paperwork.
Keep it on Zoro
- Keep your conversations in Zoro chat. Scammers often try to move you to other apps quickly.
- Do not share personal documents, bank details or card numbers in chat.
Zoro will never ask you for
- your password
- verification codes we send to your email
- payment to "unlock", "release" or "verify" an ad, a buyer or a payment
If anyone claiming to be from Zoro asks for these, it is a scam.
